What initially inspired you to pursue a career in music?

My grandparents on my mother (Harold Montgomery & Carol Hasty) and father’s side (Harold Carmichael) were musicians and singers. Their children (My Parents) were as well. In fact my mother (Becky Montgomery) was a Nashville artist in the early 2000’s. Her two brothers (John Michael Montgomery & Eddie Montgomery of Montgomery Gentry) went on to have very long careers. So that certainly played a huge role. I also fell in love with Country Music at a very young age, often finding myself lost in the instruments and lyrics.

Can you share a memorable moment from your musical journey that has had a significant impact on you?

August 21, 2018 I debuted at The legendary Grand Ol’ Opry. Obviously being the Country Music fanatic that I am, that was huge.

What influences have shaped your style of music?

My family’s music has always been a big part of my raising as anyone might imagine. However I have a lot of outside influences of my own. For example; Merle Haggard, Keith Whitley, Hank Williams Jr., Jamey Johnson, Charlie Daniels, Lynyrd Skynyrd, just to name a few.

If you could create a soundtrack for any historical event, which one would it be and why?

The settlement of Kentucky. That’s my home state, and when my ancestors arrived. A lot of things happened that could be written about.

If you could teleport to any concert in history, which one would you attend and why?

Lynyrd Skynyrd has a live album called “One more from the road”. Not only was it one more, it was the last one. Fox Theater, Atlanta, Georgia. 1977. A few months before the plane crash. Would love to have been there.

If you could collaborate with any artist, living or deceased, who would it be and why?

I would love to do a family album with all of my family. Alive, and gone.

What's the most memorable feedback or reaction you've received from a fan?

I was blown away at a fan who had gotten a portrait of me on their leg. Not only because it was honorably shocking but because the artwork was incredible.

How did your collaboration with Plunge Audio begin?

Plunge Audio popped up on my instagram feed one morning at the airport, then later that day I happened to discover a Plunge Audio booth backstage at a music festival and met the reps. I was amazed at the concept as I have struggled with the hassle of getting molds just to be underwhelmed by the quality of the buds.

What specific features do you look for when choosing IEMs for your performances?

Good low end. Clear audio and durability are my three big ones. Plug is what I like to call a triple threat. ALL THREE.

What advice would you give to other musicians who are considering using IEMs for the first time?

Keep your volume level down and both IEM’s in. Your ears will thank you later.
