Based in Los Angeles, Therese Curatolo is a vocalist, arranger, and creative dynamo known for her powerhouse vocals, razor-sharp ear, and infectious energy both on and off stage. Whether she’s crafting jaw-dropping vocal arrangements, touring with major acts, or going viral with her genre-hopping harmonies, Therese brings a bold, expressive flair to everything she touches.

With roots in both classical and contemporary music, she’s carved out a unique space in the industry—effortlessly bridging pop, a cappella, Broadway, and beyond. In this month’s artist spotlight, we sat down with Therese for a Q&A on her journey, her gear (spoiler: she’s a fan of Unity IEMs), and the behind-the-scenes moments that fuel her creativity.

What initially inspired you to pursue a career in music?

My Dad is a professional musician (Joey Curatolo founder of "Rain, A Tribute To The Beatles") so I was born into his musical world and showed musical talent almost immediately. As I grew, so did my musical education and performance - I knew very early on that I was going to pursue a career in music.

Can you share a memorable moment from your musical journey that has had a significant impact on you?

I've had so many magical moments on this journey so far but a couple that stick out are performing with legends Stevie Wonder & Sir Brian May - to have Stevie Wonder pull you aside after singing a duet with him, grip your hands and make you promise him that you'll never stop singing... consider it written in blood that I'll never stop singing. Sir Brian May paid me the biggest compliment after singing Bohemian Rhapsody at Coachella earlier this year with Benson Boone & that kiss to the forehead felt as thought I'd been anointed by the Lord of Rock & Roll.

What influences have shaped your style of music?

First & foremost The Beatles - without them, I don't know that I'd be here (truly.) I grew up with a lot of classical music so I consider Mozart & Beethoven to be heavy influences as well as Michael Jackson, Prince & Joni Mitchell.

If you could create a soundtrack for any historical event, which one would it be and why?

As if we're not currently living in the live action Hunger Games - this question is particularly tricky. Can't we just use the Beatles music to walk us through a historical event? I mean they wrote it all for us.

If you could teleport to any concert in history, which one would you attend and why?

Live Aid 1985 - Freddie would've rewired my DNA.

If you could collaborate with any artist, living or deceased, who would it be and why?

I would want to sing a duet with Karen Carpenter - the woman single handedly taught me how to sing & I think our voices would merge into one.

What's the most memorable feedback or reaction you've received from a fan?

I've had a fan travel around the world with me, be front row at every show wide eyes & ready - her joy and her love for the musical experience reminds me that music is transcendental. Their joy brings me a euphoria unlike anything else in this world.

How did your collaboration with Plunge Audio begin?

My collaboration with Plunge began through my Dad (Rain) and my Brother Paul (Rain) I was touring the world with several groups & when it came time to invest in IEM's I didn't have to go on a wild hunt - I'd tried others in the past that didn't work for me but since day one Plunge has changed the game for me on stage. I love them so much I use them in the studio to track.

What specific features do you look for when choosing IEMs for your performances?

Noise Bleed / Cancellation - Comfort - Sound Quality / Clarity

What advice would you give to other musicians who are considering using IEMs for the first time?

For artists new to IEM's who are sure to fall for the flashy molds with sparkles and your initials on them: it's far better to HEAR what you're doing, know they're expertly made and be comfortable in them for hours.
